Titled "Petalouda," this group of porcelain butterfly wall sculptures creates stylish drama on any wall. The name for this set has been inspired by the Greek term for butterfly "Petalouda" (Πεταλούδα) and in ancient Greek, the word for butterfly translated to ψυχή (psyche) which also means soul or spirit. The connection between soul and butterflies is best exemplified by the goddess Psyche, who is often depicted with butterfly wings, representing a soul's journey and transformation.
It's fun to arrange the group.
They're like jewellery for your walls - the wings will cast shadows that change as the light changes through the day.
Each butterfly measures approx 2.5 inches (6cm) so arranged as pictured, they take up a space approx 114cm w x 87cm H (44 w x 34 inches H) but this could be altered to fit your space, depending on how you arrange them.
Each butterfly sculpture is hand crafted from pure porcelain and some have been finished in a light sage green and a dark olive green whilst the rest remain natural porcelain. Each butterfly is finished off with a fine stitch of golden wire.
Because this wall art set comprises lots of separate butterfly sculptures, it is extremely flexible, and can be arranged to enhance even really tricky spaces.
Larger groups and groups with alternative textures and colours are available on request - get in touch to ask about our design and template service!
Because of the handmade processes I used when making these, no two can be identical. Yours might vary a little from the exact ones pictured, because each is unique, but they will be very similar and equally pretty, I promise!
This listing is for a group of 22 butterflies with plain smooth texture as pictured in the first images. All other images are to show different finishes that we can make. If you would prefer a different combination, or the lace texture shown in the last image, please get in touch so that I can make a special commissioned artwork for you.
